EHL Celebrates 10 Years with the Community

September 30, 2011

Ten years ago, "EHL" was created out of two local Poulsbo insurance agencies; JRO Longnecker Insurance and Edgren Insurance. Our principles, Brian Edgren, Rich Hecker, Todd Lemmon and Jeff Ogard have lead our agency with their unconventional way of business and personal risk management. As they say, we are not your father's oldsmobile.

EHL Cake

Thank you Ron Dysart from Liberty Northwest for the terrific and delicious cake!

Realizing that the traditional approach to insurance was not doing enough for our clients, EHL adopted a new model of business. For the last six years, we have been offering our clients proactive customized plans to reduce the risks they face in their home and business. This ensures they are getting appropriate coverage for their risks at the best possible price.

We celebrated our 10 Year Anniversary with a community picnic (see cake picture above) ! If you'd like to see the rest of our pictures from the event, check out our Picasa Web Gallery.

The Gift of Graciousness

September 2, 2011

I reached out with a very simple offer - a bottle of car-warmed water and a fresh banana - and what I received back was an honest look of appreciation from a gentleman that at the current moment is in a situation where he stands asking for help. Who benefited most from that very simple transaction - I did....  Why? Because in that single moment where he looked into my car and received the very simple gift, he looked straight into my eyes with graciousness.  How often do we honestly receive looks with true honesty in them?

As I was driving home I had this overwhelming sense of guilt....  Why didn't I offer him more?  Why didn't I stop and share a conversation with him?  Hear his story?  See if there is something that we can do for him?  Invite him to dinner?  Anything other than drive away with the feeling of "I should have done more...  I could have done more..."  But guilt is selfish, so I acknowledged it and moved on...

And as I unpacked my groceries, I placed the remaining bananas on the counter - and took one to enjoy myself.  The thought that went through me was - do not feel guilt for not doing more in this experience.  Use it as an opportunity and do better next time...  That is what life is about, right?  Learn, Grow, Do Better/More Next Time....

Graciousness is honestly an interesting experience to feel.  To do so you have to be willing to open up and receive even for a moment the experience another is offering you....  It comes in many forms.  At work, generally comes from an amazing co-worker who helps with something or from a client that generously referred another individual to you.  I write these notes of thanks a few times a month and each time, honestly am able to feel that sense of graciousness.

So today as we move towards our weekend, what I want to say to our wonderful clients - is thank you, not just for the referrals, but for the moments in my life where true graciousness passes through me.  It is truly a blessing and grows my spirit.

And to the gentlemen who blessed me with grace today - thank you!
