Owning a motorcycle is a lot of fun, but trying to determine what type of motorcycle coverage you really need is often a confusing and frustrating process. EHL is here to help you find a solution to this and get out on the road without worry. There are two main reasons to purchase motorcycle insurance:

To Protect Yourself and Your Passengers

Liability Coverage – Protecting others in case you're deemed to be at fault in a covered accident. Talk with your insurance agent about the amount of liability coverage you need.

Guest Passenger Liability Coverage – Protection for bodily injuries to any passenger that you may have on your motorcycle should you be at fault in a covered accident.
Medical Payments – Provides payments for reasonable medical treatment for you or another injured person in the event of an accident.

Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist – Covers damages caused by those drivers who fail to carry any insurance at all, or don't carry enough to pay for the damages.

To Protect Your Motorcycle

Collision – Pays for the repairs or replacement of your motorcycle in the case of a covered accident.

Comprehensive – Pays for covered losses from damages caused by peril other than collision, including fire, theft, vandalism, storm damage and other covered perils.

Optional Equipment Coverage – If you have added custom options to your motorcycle, you may elect to have this coverage added to your policy. It covers a loss for equipment that was not included as standard equipment, or equipment that was not permanently installed by the manufacturer.

Remember, Motorcycle Insurance is Not Just a Seasonal Policy

Many bikers park their motorcycles in their garages during the winter, and then cancel their insurance policies until the weather is more condusive to motorcycling. What that doesn’t take into consideration is that even when locked in a garage, your bike is at risk from fire or theft. For mo st policies it is optional to “garage” your motorcycle, which reduces your premium greatly, but still affords coverage in the event of a theft.
